“Café, con aroma de mujer” is a remake of the iconic 1994 telenovela of the same name. At the time, she starred as Margarita Rosa de Francisco as Gaviota and Guy Ecker as Sebastián Vallejo. The current version is also broadcast by RCN and was well received by the public, although it cannot be compared to the reception the first version enjoyed at the time.

The new adaptation starring Laura Londoño (Gaviota) and American William Levy (Sebastián Vallejo). However, since before production began, it has been speculated that Colombian actress Carmen Villalobos was the main hero, as she was in other productions such as “Paradise’s End”, which was a hit in many Latin American countries and that could serve as a cover letter to keep Gaviota’s role.

Reality, Barranquellera is particularly known for Boobs of Sin, There Is No Heaven (2008), in which she landed her first leading role. Since that year, she has gained more recognition and has been called up to play more leading roles on the Telemundo network.

However, it was not. Laura Londoño remained with the main role and Villalobos with the opponent, thus embodying Lucía Sanclemente. With all that, she has done well and continues to receive good comments from her fans, especially via social networks, where they show their support, but why wasn’t she given the lead role?

Since the announcement of the release of a “remake” of “Café, con aroma de mujer”, the public has begun to speculate who the heroes will be; There was even talk of Margherita Rosa de Francisco herself that after 27 years she would play the role of Gaviota again. Later the actors were selected and there was a surprise to see Carmen Villalobos in the opponent, which is unusual in her and in the productions in which she participates.

According to Londono in an interview with a regional media outlet, he was aware that Telemundo was going to release a new version of Café, made the casting and was accepted. “There will be William Levy, who works at Telemundo, and there will be Carmen Villalobos, who works at Telemundo, and now, he mentioned his sweetheart from Telemundo.”said the actress.

Additionally, he stated that he had never heard that Villalobos would have acted, “they never said Carmen would be the hero.” Later, the entire cast was known and even Londono herself was surprised.

Despite much speculation with the cast, the Telemundo telenovela was well received and is expected to be broadcast by the Latin network in the coming days.

“Café, con aroma de mujer” (1994) was an original idea by Fernando Gaitan, produced by RCN in the same year and broadcast by the extinct A-channel, and it tells the story of Teresa Suárez, better known as Gaviota, a coffee collector who with his mother (Carmenza) is looking for work in several of the regions of the country in that trade. Every year they go to the Octavio Vallejo farm because they have a guaranteed job there. When he dies, Sebastian, his son, seizes the property and meets Gaviota. Both falling in love and accidents caused by Lucia Sandoval (acted by Alejandra Borreiro) and Ivan Vallejo (Cristóbal Irazurez) begin.

This production is considered one of the most important works produced in the country, not only because of the actors but also because of the plot, screenplay, locations and landscapes used. The new version of “Café” is also made in many coffee-growing regions of the country.
