El Nuevo Diario, Santo Domingo – The 2023 National Medical Prize of the Dominican Republic honored Doctors María Zumilda Nuñez and Reynolds Pérez Estefan, members of the Health Sciences Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic, as distinguished physicians in health and society. .
The twenty-sixth session of the award was distinguished by the distinction of famous doctors for their contributions to medical research in the country.
Health professionals expressed that these awards are motivation to continue working for science, human health services and for the growth of the country’s medical class.
Dr. Nunez is a researcher and educator who has distinguished herself in her efforts to encourage medical research in our country. Since 2007, Dr. Nunez has served as a Graduate Research Professor in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies at PUCMM.
In 2008, she was appointed Director of the Center for Biomedical and Clinical Research, part of the Research Department of PUCMM, a position she currently holds.
While Reynolds Pérez Estefan, is a distinguished general surgeon and powerful intellectual from La Vega. He trained at the Medical School of the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra, and completed his studies in General Surgery at the José María Cabral y Páez Regional University Hospital in Santiago de los Caballeros.
The 2023 National Prize for Medicine of the Dominican Republic was awarded on Tuesday to Master of Pediatrics and Scientific Research, Dr. Julio Manuel Rodríguez Grullon.
