Although the comet has already begun its return to the outer solar system, Nicaraguans still have an observing window between October 10 and 24.

How and where to see the comet of the century?

Amateur astronomer Julio Vannini recommends starting to look for it at 6 p.m., heading west, just after sunset. For the best viewing, it is important to stay away from city lights and use binoculars or a small telescope.

“The comet is very low, which means its observation period could range from 60 to 90 minutes with luck,” Vannini explained to 100% NOTICIAS. This is a comet and you can photograph it with your cell phone if the exposure is long.

Agreement with experts such as EarthSkyThe comet will appear in the west, where the sun sets, every night until October 24, and we advise you to direct your gaze towards that point an hour after sunset.

Vannini adds that for better observation, it is necessary to have clear skies and stay away from artificial light sources. With a little patience, you’ll be able to appreciate this heavenly spectacle, even with the naked eye. However, to detail its tail, binoculars will be your best allies, especially considering the current moon phase.

Vannini explains that although comet C/2023 A3 Tuchinshan-ATLAS is one of the brightest comets of recent years, it is not bright enough to earn the opportunity to see it in daylight, but unfortunately many have taken it upon themselves to declare it as the comet of the last century. “But so far it has not met this expectation.”
