(CNN) – U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday released new guidelines on the use of external masks for fully vaccinated Americans.
Those who have been fully vaccinated can now remove the mask while attending small outdoor gatherings or dining with friends from various homes. The CDC tells unannounced people to wear a mask at such meetings.
“Science shows that if you want to attend a small outdoor meeting with fully vaccinated, unvaccinated and excluded people, or dine at an open-air restaurant with friends from different homes, you can do without a mask if you are vaccinated. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Valensky said during a virtual conference at the White House on Tuesday.
“Generally, outdoor activities without a mask are safe for those who have been vaccinated. However, we continue to recommend wearing masks in crowded outdoor arenas and arenas, which means that crowded arenas and concerts are less capable of maintaining physical distance, and there may be many uninterested people, ”Valensky said.
“We will continue to recommend this until widespread vaccination is available.”
But life does not return to normal for those who are fully vaccinated.
The Federal Health Agency says you should avoid large indoor gatherings even if you have been vaccinated. The CDC does not define how many people make up a large crowd.
For fully vaccinated individuals who choose to attend a crowded outdoor event such as a live performance, parade or sporting event, wearing a mask is recommended.
The CDC advises vaccinated people to wear masks in indoor and public places such as a shopping mall, movie theater or museum.
The CDC considers that people are fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of Pfizer / Bioendech or Modern vaccines or two weeks after the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Ahead of his first speech to Congress on Wednesday, President Joe Biden is expected to refer to the updated guidelines for wearing masks outside when commenting on the state of the epidemic on Tuesday.
Dr. Anthony Fossi, one of Piton’s top corona virus consultants, told CNN that the guide will be updated this week.
Fassi told CNN’s Jim Acosta on Sunday that he did not want to go further than CCN, but said the company would “update its guidelines on what can be done, even those who have been vaccinated and some who have not been vaccinated.”
Changes driven by science
The CDC says they were prompted to update the guidelines for fully vaccinated people after seeing an increase in the number of vaccinated and declining COVID-19 case rates, CDC Director Dr Rochelle Valensky said during a virtual conference at the White House on Tuesday.
“Data is growing to indicate that most transactions occur internally rather than externally; less than 10% of the transmissions documented in many studies have occurred outside,” Valensky said.
“We know that there is almost 20 times more risk of spreading indoors than outdoors. In addition, 37% of people over the age of 18 are now vaccinated and our case rates are now beginning to fall, prompting a change in our orientation,” Valensky said.
“As more people get vaccinated and case rates continue to fall, we will provide additional updates.”
