(CNN Spanish) — The President of Argentina, Javier Millay, traveled to the United States this Saturday, where he participated in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) taking place in National Harbor, Maryland. There, he met former US President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“Make Argentina Great Again,” Trump said in English (Make Argentina Great Again) as the two were photographed amid hugs and handshakes.
“Live free, Cara**,” said the Argentine, between the two of them laughing.
The meeting took place within the framework of the third day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, which began in 1974 and has become a destination for conservatives inside and outside the United States. Candidates and leaders annually travel to CPAC to take the grassroots' temperature and test their standing in front of the thousands of conservatives who attend the event.
“We're not going to give up on making Argentina a great country again,” Miley said moments before his meeting with Trump during his speech at CPAC, where he talked about the fight against corruption.
While this is the first public meeting between the two, it's not the first time Trump and Miley have exchanged compliments. When Trump won Argentina's presidential election in November, he mentioned Miley, writing on his Truth Social account: “Congratulations to Javier Miley on a great campaign for president of Argentina. The whole world was watching! “I'm so. You are proud of yourself. You will turn your country around and make Argentina great again!”
In mid-January, Trump praised Argentina again: “Argentina's new president, Javier Mille, truly loves his country, works hard, and according to many 'in the know', has made great progress! He's been an absolute disaster.”, but he's making Maga (Argentina Great Again) makes it!), he works so hard that against all odds, he will achieve it. I hope to help him in the future!” On that occasion, Miley responded to the American's message on her Instagram account.
On Friday, President Mili welcomed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who was on a tour of South America to Brazil, along with ministers from his cabinet at the Casa Rosada.
