Dominican rock bands

This Tuesday, July 13, and like every year since 1985, the world rock day, a date that celebrates the importance of this rhythm, which has millions of followers.

The main reason for choosing this date was to celebrate the anniversary of the huge “Live Aid” concert, which was attended by important bands and performers of this type from Europe and the United States in order to raise funds for Somalia and Ethiopia, two countries. The African continent was going through a severe famine crisis.

In the Dominican Republic, rock music has been very popular, especially among the young people who developed between the 1970s, 1950s, and 1990s, and the 2000s.

In the country, the genre arose in the 1970s with the arrival of the group The Masters, spontaneously with a guitar in hand and eager to show off her talent that had become known. Beginning in the 1980s, Dominican rock began to take hold and then bands such as New Page, Toque deepundity, Empiphis, Cahobazul and Transporte Urbano began to form.

Although other musical genres have taken center stage in the past decade, Dominican rock maintains a loyal and enduring audience, with groups and singers keeping the genre alive.
