Comedian and podcast host Tony Hinchcliffe’s comments sparked outrage from various quarters.

The Trump team said comments on Puerto Rico do not reflect Trump’s views or his campaign. And Donald Trump himself said he didn’t know the comedian or listen to the comments, prompting widespread backlash.

Amid the backlash, Bad Bunny gave the first sign of support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign. The Puerto Rican star took to social media on Sunday to share the vice president’s plans for the island.

“I will never forget what Donald Trump did and didn’t do when Puerto Rico needed a capable and supportive leader,” Harris says in the video, which has been shared multiple times by Bad Bunny, focusing on Trump. “He abandoned the island, tried to withhold aid after two consecutive devastating hurricanes, and offered nothing but scraps of paper and insults.”

Thousands of people died in Puerto Rico as a result of Hurricane Maria in 2017, shortly after Hurricane Irma caused massive power outages across the island. While assessing damage in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, then-President Trump drew fire for dumping supplies, including paper towels, on the island’s residents.

A rep for Bad Bunny told CNN on Monday, “Benito’s political focus has always been on Puerto Rico.”

His representative did not say whether the musician would make a formal endorsement before the election.
