COVID-19 cases in Puerto Rico continue to rise as part of the recovery. Statistics released today by the Ministry of Health provide evidence of the increase, which also affects minors. According to official data, there are three cases of children in the hospital intensive care unit and one case connected to a ventilator.
Meanwhile, four additional deaths from COVID-19 were reported today, including two people in their 30s. Specifically, there is a 35-year-old man who died in the Caguas region and another 39-year-old died in the Mayagüez region. The other two deceased persons were 47 and 61 years old, respectively.
Today, the average number of new cases of COVID-19 is 470. The Ministry of Health is no longer announcing total cases, but average positives on antigen and molecular tests.
There are 127,545 cumulative confirmed cases, while the cumulative deaths are 2,585.
The government has focused its message on vaccination to try to halt the epidemic’s recovery, as well as requiring people to wear masks indoors, even if they have been vaccinated. In Puerto Rico, several types of COVID-19 have already been detected.
