(CNN Espasol) – A strong earthquake shook the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains south of Lake Tahoe, causing tremors across northern California and northern Nevada.
At 3:49 pm, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook the Pacific, but the US Geological Survey quickly corrected it to 5.9.
The National Weather Service in Sacramento announced a minute-long mild tremor would shake the building and move the blinds. Others said the quake was felt in San Francisco, about 250 miles (402 km) west of the epicenter.
California Emergency Management Office (Call OES) officials said in a tweet that there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.
Several regressions measuring at levels 3 and 4 have been recorded.
“We are working closely with local authorities to ensure that there is evidence and support for a quick response to these earthquakes,” Cal OES said.
