Liceo San Francisco de Vallenar holds the 12th successful Science and Technology Fair – Atacama Noticias

With the distinguished participation of the educational community and the Huasco River Basin and Tributaries Control Board (JVRH), the 12th Science and Technology Fair was held at Liceo San Francisco. The main aim of the event was to introduce the projects developed by students during the year in the subjects of Natural Sciences, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and electives.

The alliance between Liceo San Francisco and JVRH was formed in March of this year, within the framework of the Symposium on Weather Radar organized by JVRH in celebration of World Water Day. Since then, this cooperation has been fundamental in the implementation of various initiatives, including the establishment of a meteorological station, which represents an important milestone for environmental education and climate monitoring in Vallenar.

“The main goal of this exhibition is to introduce the projects developed by students during the year, in accordance with the national policy,” explained Claudio Trujillo, professor of biology and natural sciences and coordinator of the science and technology department at the high school. Education curricula in subjects such as natural sciences, biology, physics, chemistry and electives. In addition, projects are showcased not only from our students, but also from the community in general, making this event a full-fledged event.

“This alliance was born when we were invited to talk about weather radars in March. We were very motivated by this topic, and since then, we have worked together to achieve progress such as the meteorological station we inaugurated today,” Trujillo added.

Antonia Rosales, a third-year Intermediate A student, expressed her enthusiasm for the weather station project: “We want Valinar to have more accurate climate data, so we can predict precipitation, precipitation and extreme temperatures. Our project seeks to provide local and reliable information.” For the entire community.

On the other hand, Victor Gonzalez, General Director of JVRH, added: “We feel very proud to contribute to the development of this show and the growth of young talents.
