Local logistics company César Castillo LLC has completed an expansion that will generate 32 new jobs, thanks to more than $12.4 million in private investment and support from the Economic Stimulus Fund. Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi and Department of Economic Development and Trade (DDEC) Secretary Manuel Cedri Miranda made the announcement in a statement.
The family company, managed by members of its second, third and fourth generations, specializes in integrated logistics services.
As reported, the investment will allow for the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, as well as significant improvements to its facilities. These improvements will enhance its ability to provide product receiving, storage, packaging and delivery solutions.
The amount of the incentive awarded to the company was not reported.
“The growth of local companies like César Castillo LLC is key to strengthening our economy and demonstrating the confidence that exists to continue investing in Puerto Rico.. “This announcement not only represents direct job creation, but also strengthens the logistics sector and supports essential industries in Puerto Rico, such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices,” Pierluisi said of the 82-year-old company.
For his part, Minister Cedar emphasized that the investment “will also benefit the local economy with more than 30 new jobs in the next five years, which is why we celebrate the growth of another local company that decides to develop and expand in Puerto Rico.” .
Company President Cesar Eduardo Castillo said the new jobs will be added to the current 489 employees.
“We are working in Over 1,000,000 square feet of space “To continue offering our personalized logistics solutions to pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer goods companies in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” the businessman added.
He added: “Through this investment, we seek to increase our support for this business sector that contributes a lot to the local economy, and we thank Dubai Exhibitions and Exhibitions Company for the incentives aimed at obtaining new and advanced equipment, making comprehensive improvements to the facilities, and creating job opportunities.”
