Technology is constantly evolving to improve human activities, both personal and professional, and education is no exception. In the educational field, it has become an essential tool for training highly trained professionals.
Teaching in the health sciences has been transformed by medical simulation. This method uses low-, medium- and high-tech simulators, anatomical models and virtual reality, among other resources, to provide practical training for future professionals in safe environments. Experience from European countries and the United States shows that this methodology not only improves the quality of professional care, but also increases knowledge retention by up to 80% and reduces the risk of human error by 50%.
Healthcare workers are under intense pressure when they enter the hospital or delivery room, facing different critical scenarios such as CPR and obstetric emergencies. Using simulators from the early years of their careers equips them with the skills to work effectively under these conditions and respond appropriately to emergencies.
The Faculty of Health Sciences at SEK International University (UISEK) has equipped its laboratories with advanced simulation rooms. These spaces are designed to develop skills in dentistry, gynecology and hospital medicine, improve patient care and handle medical emergencies safely and under the supervision of teachers. These facilities do not replace real practice, but rather complement learning, providing previous experience that facilitates familiarization and preparation for real clinical environments.
In Ecuador, recent problems with the professional practice qualification exam have raised concerns about the quality of training for future health professionals. UISEK is positioned as a benchmark in transforming the methodology of medical education, enhancing the talents of its students through a personalized approach and advanced technology. This model ensures an adequate number of students in each class, ensuring that each one has direct access to the tools and resources necessary for their practical learning.
The health professions require a significant investment, and UISEK works to provide high-quality education that justifies this investment, preparing young people to excel as outstanding professionals who meet the country’s high standards.
