Trump prosecuted 8 1.8 million lawsuits against Pompeo during the trial

Gordon Sondland, the EU ambassador under Donald Trump and a key witness in the former Republican presidential first trial, filed a lawsuit against former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington, Soundland claims that Pompeo promised to repay any legal costs because he was forced to appear before Congress on Trump’s accusation of trying to pressure Ukraine to investigate his rival. Politician Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Pompeo, according to the lawsuit, “broke his word” when he learned what Sonland had said in his testimony.

“Ambassador Sondland is appealing to this court to refund the money paid for lawyers and other services because Pompeo abandoned the contract for reasons of political involvement,” writes Soundland attorney Mark Barondes.

A spokesman for Pompeo called the case “absurd” and said the former secretary “hopes the court will agree with that assessment.”

Sondland described in his testimony that Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, had openly put pressure on the Ukrainian government, saying that its president would only pay a visit to the White House if Democrats agreed to investigate.

The House of Representatives found Trump guilty, but the Senate acquitted him in February 2020.

Sondland was fired for “telling the truth” after the trial. He asserts that his refusal to reimburse for the costs incurred was not only in violation of “normal traditions” but also “particularly complicated by the fact that the quantity of products required to respond to legal summonses was very large.”

“Ambassador Sondland is a Washington, D.C. law firm with experience in legislative hearings and trained to assist him, in addition to his personal attorney, with this very important testimony,” the lawsuit continues.

“Ambassador Sondland continues to take into account the promise made by Pompeo on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire government, which will compensate him with about $ 1.8 million in legal costs,” he added.
