MEXICO CITY, Aug. 22 (EL UNIVERSAL) — The classical dance steps Pepe Gaetan began taking at the age of two marked her path: the artistic world. The singer also says discipline was a natural part of her training.
The actress recalls that thanks to the education she received from her mother, Silvia Barragán, a graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA), she was required to achieve precise, elegant and perfect technique.
Over the years, Pepe developed herself as an actress, then as a teacher, and today, at 51, she teaches it to her daughter, Ana Paula, so she can try herself. Love without barriers.
“I consider myself a perfectionist, I even get fat because I am a person who demands too much of myself and it is never enough. If I feel like the choreography is already done with one turn, I want to do two. I am always demanding of myself and sometimes I also scold myself and say: Calm down, that’s it, now enjoy it.Pepe says in an interview with EL UNIVERSAL.
The actress, singer and dancer is passing the baton of generations to her daughter, Ana Paulawhich shares the credits in the famous musical, which arrives at the Centenario Theatre, in Coyoacán.

“It’s very important to give opportunities to young people because they are the future. Someone gave us that chance back then and now it’s his turn; there are people who spend their lives preparing and sometimes they don’t get there.”
Ana Paula, 26, doesn’t take it seriously. And she considers that being the daughter of well-known actors means a lot of responsibility and pressure, because the comparison that will be in the play is inevitable because she plays the role of Maria, a role that her mother appeared in for the first time 20 years ago.
“I have the great honor of being my father’s daughter, the doors open more easily for me because of the recent titles, but I tried to be as prepared as possible so that the opportunity I had would not go in vain and so that I would feel prepared in the future for the projects to come.””says the actress.
The singer says being confident in herself, and in training, socializing and having fun, is the best advice she has ever received from her parents.
“I inherited my mother’s perfectionism, and I’m also a bit nervous, and I’m always under a lot of pressure. This is my debut and there’s a lot of tension”Anna Paula confesses.
His love has no barriers
For Baby Gaetan, it’s a godsend to play a woman so ahead of her time who makes her own decisions: Anita, who becomes the mother figure to Maria in the show that takes place at the end of the 1950s.
“She made her debut in the theater 20 years ago with the character that Anna Bao plays today. Anita covers Maria without being her mother, she occupies the figure of a mother whose purpose is not only to pamper her, but to put you in your place when” “You are wrong”, explains the actress Details of the work loosely based on Romeo and Juliet.
It’s about a character, she says, with whom she not only gets to know but would like to learn more from: “As a mother, like all Mexicans and Latinas, we are ‘our first’.”
