Leading U.S. epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fucci said Sunday that as more Americans get vaccinated, guidelines on indoor mask use may become more liberal.
Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Friday that people can breathe the virus into the air even when it is more than six feet from the infected person. Previously, the company pointed out that most infections were “obtained through close contact, not through airborne transmission.”
Fassi acknowledged that the country continues to file an average of 43,000 cases of the virus, according to The New York Times. “We have to be a lot less than that,” he said.
In the United States, more than 112 million people have already been fully vaccinated, while more than 40 million have received the first dose of the vaccine.
According to the CDC, vaccinated people must regularly wear masks in closed public places, including restaurants.
