Texas announced several measures to help hundreds of families save money on their back-to-school shopping.
Among them, the state controller announced limited dates for the tax-free weekend.
As indicated in the information provided by the report, households can save money on tax-free purchases.
These are mostly items related to weekend clothes, shoes, school supplies and backpacks.
Also, it should be noted that these items sell for less than $100.00 USD. So, the official start date for this year’s sales tax holiday is Friday, August 11.
Meanwhile, it will last till midnight on Sunday 13th of that month.
What are eligible items?
As of today, few people have questions regarding goods that are eligible for duty-free purchase.
In this sense, Those who qualify will purchase from a Texas state store or online vendor with that requirement. Therefore, in most cases, there is no need to issue an exemption certificate to the seller.
Precisely because those goods are purchased on a sales tax holiday that qualifies as tax-free.
However, it is important for all people to know the significance of these dates. That is, goods purchased before or after sales tax exemption are not eligible for exemption. Hence, the tax cannot be refunded.
Also, it should be clarified that only school supplies on this list that cost less than $100.00 USD are eligible for tax exemption.
