For the first time, a U.S. P-3 Orion aircraft came to Galapagos to conduct aeronautical surveillance operations to gather information on illegal activities related to drug trafficking and illegal fishing.

The B-3 Orion aircraft helped find drugs near the Galapagos Islands
On September 5, 2018 (2 years, 8 months ago) a US Customs and Border Protection P-3 Orion aircraft arrived in Ecuador for the first time from the United States, but today it arrived in Calcutta.
Today, Defense Minister Oswaldo Jன்rn and US Ambassador Michael Fitzpatrick were present during the Orion P-3 visit.
The Minister said that Orion B-3 activities, in the mainland and the Galapagos Islands, will be subject to Ecuador planning.
During the first voyage to the country, P-3 detected Orion and provided information on the seizure of about three tons of cocaine.
The aircraft is equipped with high technology to detect illegal activities without Ecuador.
The presence of Orion in Ecuador Former US Ambassador to Ecuador Francisco Carian Mena has condemned the lack of ethics that threaten Ecuador’s sovereignty.
However, current Defense Minister Oswaldo Jவால்rn denied this, insisting that the measures be taken in the presence of Ecuadorian officials and that the information be implemented in Ecuadorian institutions. (I)
