These sensors can cause your vehicle to not start

Vehicle sensors are electronic devices which monitors various aspects of the vehicle and sends information to the driver or the ECU (electronic control unit). In certain cases, the ECU automatically makes adjustments to the specific component based on information from the sensor.

current vehicles They have many sensors. In most of its various systems and all of them are very important to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles.

However, there are some that can cause a vehicle to not start when it fails. This is why it is so important that you notice some sensor in your car If it fails, have a professional mechanic check it and have it repaired before you can drive your car.

What sensors can cause your car to not start?

There are several sensors that may cause your vehicle to not start. Here we tell you which ones.

1.- Crankshaft position sensor

The first sensor to check that your car won’t start is the crankshaft position sensor (CPS). This sensor is used to monitor the angle or position of the crankshaft so that the ECM can initiate the ignition for proper combustion.

With a bad crankshaft sensor, your car may not start at all. The crankshaft sensor is responsible for determining the rpm and piston position and then sending a signal to the engine control unit.

So when the sensor fails completely, the ECM cannot read the exact data to start the ignition at which point your car will not start or sometimes it starts and shuts off immediately.

2.- Camshaft position sensor

Among the vehicle sensors, apart from the crankshaft sensor, the camshaft position sensor (CPS) also plays a very important and indispensable role in a vehicle. The purpose of this sensor is to measure camshaft rotation and position.

The ECM will use this data to learn when to direct the spark and fuel to achieve the best engine efficiency. The camshaft and crankshaft position sensors often work together to help the engine control module calculate optimal fuel injection and ignition timing for the engine.

3. – Accelerator position sensor

When the TPS is bad, the computer can read a flat signal from the sensor. Once you put your foot on the throttle the throttle body opens but the fuel injection rate will be lower when the sensor reads flat. This changes the air-to-fuel ratio and your engine will slow down or stall immediately.

4.- Air mass flow

One of the sensors that causes your car to not start is the mass air flow sensor. A common symptom of bad MAF sensors is that the vehicle won’t start.

If the MAP sensor gives an incorrect reading that there is less air incoming, the ECM will demand less fuel, at which point, the combustion chamber will not have enough fuel and air to fire the spark plugs and your vehicle will not be able to start.

5.- fuel pressure sensor

If your car is having trouble starting or isn’t getting the power it needs, the fuel pressure sensor is most likely bad. In short, its main function is to detect the pressure in the fuel system and improve the fuel level.

So if the fuel pressure sensor does not work, your car will not have enough fuel and will not be able to start.
