Governor Pedro Pierluese remains firm that lawyer Jess González remains before the Education Ministry as interim secretary despite a rejection expressed by the Puerto Rican Senate.
The President said, “I have asked Mr. Gonzalez to remain in command of the cabinet on an interim basis until the property minister is named and the Senate gives him his approval.”
Pierluese, who confirmed in his written statements that he recognized the Senate’s right to “express its feelings about the appointment,” asserts that he bears a constitutional responsibility that the agency “has guidance at all times.”
We recommend the following:
“My commitment to the people of Puerto Rico, and in particular to the students of our public education system, is to make this appointment with the greatest urgency,” he concluded.
