If you are one of those people who are suffering from rent or housing cost increase in Miami, Florida, you need to know that there is a program to help you pay back the rent. City, at least $500 a month. Want to know the requirements?

According to him Channel miamense Univisión 23, this week Miami has a rental assistance program aimed at the elderly. If you are 62 years of age or older, you live in the City of Miami and your household income is low, you can apply for this rental assistance cash assistance offered by the Mayor’s Office.

If you meet certain requirements, the program can provide up to $500 a month in rent payments for a year. Here we explain how, where to apply and what are the deadlines.

Help with Dollars for Rent in Miami

The City of Miami’s Senior Housing Rental Assistance Program began accepting applications last Friday, December 1st and will continue to receive them until then. On Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

To qualify, your household income must not exceed 50% of the area median income. You must be up-to-date on your rent and have a current lease. Only one application per household will be accepted. You can do that on the mayor’s website. Click here.

Paper applications are also available at Miami City Hall and City Commissioners offices.

Applications are due by Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The order in which they are submitted does not affect eligibility. Once the delivery period is over, the applications will be reviewed and random drawings will be drawn through the computer to select the beneficiaries of this assistance.

They explain that the rental assistance program does not apply to seniors living in public housing or to those who already receive rental assistance from a federal program called “Program 8.” More information can be obtained by calling 311 or visiting the City of Miami website.
